ART CAMP FOR KIDS *

Surrounded by the beautiful waters of Cape Cod is a small-but-radical art camp for kids. The Rainbow Weavers is built to strengthen the imagination and creative spirit of each child. Children will explore how colors, sound, and movement inspire individual creativity through lessons, exploration, and play.

Throughout the camp week, kids strengthen their confidence, build teamwork skills, expand their imagination, and become more connected to their creative spirit.

Main ingredients to our curriculum:

Creative expression, magic, play & friendship!

  • Children gathered on a beige carpet playing with various colorful crystals for a ceremony before camp

    An Environment of Kindness

We believe that kids are most capable in an environment of kindness. In our small groups, kids are able to feel supported by other childre. This sense of belonging allows them to open up and share their unique creativity with confidence.

  • A smiling child holding a vibrant drawing of a rainbow concentric circles in front of an abstract, multicolored wall with graffiti and paint splatters.

    Guided by Unique Spirit

Through art, kids are able to connect to, strengthen, and express the magic within them. We use Life Weaving Ceremonies to strengthen the imagination and creative spirit so kids can create art as unique as themselves. This teaches kids that their uniqueness is to be celebrated.

  • Children playing and climbing in a large outdoor tree, some sitting on branches, others climbing or on a swing attached to the tree, on Cape Cod, MA

    Movement + Play

We understand that play is nourishing to the creative spirit. Rainbow Weavers play and explore nature each day. Through dance parties, walks, and lots of laughing the kids are able to release stuck energy and welcome fresh inspiration. We see play as an essential nutrient for thriving in life.

  • Two children painting on a large, colorful abstract canvas attached to a wall. The floor is covered with splatters and drips of paint, and there are jars of paint on the floor.

    Kids Supporting Kids

Kids celebrating each other’s unique creations helps build confidence and belief in themselves as creative beings. During daily art reflections, kids share what they see in each other’s developing art. Kids also work together throughout the week on group projects that facilitate teamwork. The art show allows the group to find collective purpose in a larger mission.

Art Show + Gallery

A group of children posing in front of an abstract colorful painting at camp. Some children are making peace signs, and they are all smiling and celebrating.

The kids spend the week preparing a special art show for family, friends, and the community: a celebration of the magic the kids have created!

Together, the Rainbow Weavers use their creative power to design the exhibition from start to finish. Each child contributes their own large-scale painting, takes part in a collaborative group piece, and experiments with mixed-media works of art.

The kids are involved in every step of the process from creating, curating, arranging, and bringing their collective vision to life.

The following week, The Rainbow Weavers space transforms into a gallery, where the children’s artwork is showcased. The gallery is open to the public during this time. Stop by and feel the magic for yourself!

Sample Daily Schedule

Two kids are sitting on the floor, creating a colorful abstract painting on a large canvas, surrounded by various paints, brushes, and art supplies.

MORNING CIRCLE 10-10:30am

The day begins as a group to collectively straighten imaginations and creative spirits. Each child picks a crystal from the collection and brings it to the circle. Kids take turns sharing a little about their choice. Then kids split into pairs for energy readings.

A short Life Weaving Ceremony sets the foundation for the day. Art reflections follow.

STUDIO HOURS 10:30am-12pm

Kids work on their individual and group art pieces.

LUNCH 12-12:30pm

Kids eat and hang with new friends.

MOVEMENT 12:30-1:30

Activities vary depending on weather, the group’s preferences, etc. Some common movement blocks include:

Music-based movement where kids create a playlist and have a short dance party or concert.

Nature-based movement where kids go for a walk over Uncle Tims Bridge to a small island behind the studio.

SOUND + COLOR 1:30-2pm

Kids can continue to work on their art during this time. Usually by mid-week this is when ideas for the art show begin to surface.

A sound bath is a calming reset to close the day.

What will kids create?

Two abstract paintings created by kids, one above the other, on a white gallery wall. Each contains multiple colors and is complex, with layered brushstrokes and patterns.

Kids learn how to journey into their own creative realms so they can connect to their unique energy, imagination and visions to create art that comes from the magic within!

We work with multiple mediums from paint to found items in nature depending on how the kids’ art wants to be expressed. Each child will take part in creating:

  • 1 large scale painting to be displayed in the art show

  • daily artwork inspired by lessons, explorations, and games

  • 1 large scale collaborative group painting

  • design of the art show and gallery

“Hi, I’m Leo. I like The Rainbow Weavers so much because it’s like I have lots of friends, that’s number one. Number two, I loved it a lot because it’s small and I loved all of the kids including our teacher!”

Tools for kids to shine

The creator of the camp, Alex, believes that when we join our spirit and our body through our creativity we create a resonance that is unique to us and helps us to feel alive! As there is so much pulling kids away from their unique nature, they need practices that connect them back to themselves and back to life. Artistic expression is one way kids can feel in love with life. That they can use these tools they learn at camp whether it’s reading energy, supporting other kids, believing in their creations or bringing new ideas into the community- everything they learn here is to help them shine in the world!
